16 area greats from the sports world have been honored in Binghamton.  The 1st Annual Greater Binghamton Sports Hall of Fame Dinner inducted 16 members.  Inductees come from many aspects of the sports world and all have one thing in common...their roots are in Greater Binghamton.

Six honorees were inducted posthumously.  They include: Alex Alexander, Dick Baldwin, Dick Hoover, Johnny Logan, Ron Luciano and Jim Matthews.

Living honorees include:  Fran Angeline, Bob Campbell, John W. Fox, Carl Gaffney, Bess Greenberg, Jack Halloran, Isaiah Kazyvenski, Master Hidy Ochiai, King Rice and Ray Stanton II.

Former New York Giant All-Pro Chris Snee was the Keynote Speaker.  Snee, who retired after ten seasons in the National Football League, is a graduate of Montrose Area High School where he was a two-time All-Pa. selection.

In coming weeks the plaques of the inductees will be displayed at the Oakdale Mall.  A portion of the proceeds raised from the dinner will be donated to the area Boys and Girls Clubs and also used to help establish a permanent home for the Greater Binghamton Sports Hall of Fame.
