18 Year Old Charged With DWI in Westover

A Spencer teenager is accused of driving drunk after driving over a curb on Main Street in Westover near the former BAE Systems plant, crossing a sidewalk and hitting a New York State Electric and Gas utility pole, shearing it off and sending wires across the road.

Broome County Sheriff’s officials say 18 year old Jemma Harris admitted consuming alcohol prior to the crash shortly before 3:22 a.m. December 6.

Investigators say Harris was arrested after the vehicle came to a stop in the middle of Avon Street.

She is charged with driving while intoxicated, refusing to take a breathalyzer test and crossing hazard markings.
