District Attorney Stephen Cornwell announced the program two weeks ago. He said fourteen addicts have been paired with treatment facilities.

The first group being assisted by the effort have been paired with long-term treatment providers in New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Florida.

Cornwell said ten more people are working with program volunteers who will assist them in arranging treatment.

The district attorney said scholarships and transportation money is arranged on a case-by-case basis for those who don't have insurance or if the treatment cost would prevent them from obtaining help.

Information about the program may be obtained by calling 607.778.6119 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on weekdays.

Cornwell has said the number started ringing almost instantly after it was first publicized. He said three people had called asking for details about the program within ten minutes after it was featured in a televised news report.
