New York State Police are assisting in the investigation into a crash in Delaware County involving a Sheriff’s Deputy that left a motorist seriously injured.Delaware County Sheriff’s officials say Deputy Stephanie Proffitt was involved in a head-on collision on State Highway 10 in the Town of Walton October 29.

She was treated for a cut to the leg and released from the hospital but the driver of the other vehicle, 27 year old Amber Phraner of Walton was airlifted to Wilson Hospital in Johnson City where she was listed in critical condition.

Delaware County Sheriff Thomas Mills requested the accident investigation be conducted by the New York State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit.

Further details of the crash are to be released by New York State Police following the conclusion of their investigation.
